Programs
We offer programs that celebrate creativity and encourage fun, hands-on exploration through the fine-art of observation. We focus skill-building in three areas with a variety of programs: Art and music, Permaculture for kids, OUTLOUD! Girls Groups, Mentoring Youth through our Artist Apprentice Program.
Art and MusicOur art and music programs explore the basic art-skills of drawing, painting, building puppets and masks, drumming, percussion, songwriting and puppet and mask theater.
Permaculture for KidsOur permaculture based Summer Art-Farm programs are presented as a new-old way to learn a way of life and design system that is rooted in agriculture--yet expands to include a multitude of issues that ally ourselves with nature.
OUTLOUD! Girls' GroupsThe OUTLOUD! Girls Group is open to two age groups: 7-12 years old, and 13 years and older. Weekly OUTLOUD! gatherings center around storytelling, singing, dancing and art-making with the theme of understanding natures shapes, patterns and cycles, as we continue to experience and understand how we are an integral part of nature flowing in beautiful subtle rhythms.
Mentoring Youth/Artist Apprentice ProgramOriginally, the Artist Apprentice Program was designed to provide middle, high school and college aged students with the opportunity to work side-by side with the LIttle Artshram (staff) learning the techniques and skills necessary to participate in the creation of the Grand Traverse Earth Day Parade, a community-wide celebration.
Summer Art-Farm Camp ProgramsOur Art-Farm camps celebrate creativity and encourage fun through hands-on exploration and practicing the fine-art of observation. We focus skill-building in three main areas with a variety of projects throughout the week. The focus areas for our 2008 Summer Art-Farm Camps are: Art and music; Community gardening and Permaculture for kids; and Wandering in the Woods--our Nature Awareness Program.
