The Little Artshram Summer Camp is next to an open space and beautiful hundred acre hardwood forest just west of downtown Traverse City, MI. Our weekly day-camps, offer a variety of activities from gardening, to nature awareness and wilderness skills, to cultural arts. Little Artshram Summer Camp is inspired by and offers a creative, "nature-mimicking" approach also known as Permaculture - which embodies the ethics of caring for the earth, caring for other people, and giving something back. Our programs are guided by an ecological design process, with permaculture principles demonstrated through the design of the camp programs, and throughout the flow of the daily and weekly sessions. We have a crew of incredible and awesome educators and mentors!
We are planning a summer of fun spending 99.5 % of our time outdoors, while sharing eco-design through art and musicmaking, organic and forest gardening, natural building projects, nature awareness and a weekly family picnic at Little Artshram's Community Garden. We will learn more about growing our own food, gathering wild edibles, practice gardening like a forest, along with experiencing a powerful set of art-making and nature skills. Little Artshram is experiencing an awakening and deeper understanding and relationship with the natural world, and we welcome you into our friendly, camp community!
WHEN: 10 weeks to choose from, for children and youth 6 and older, M-F 9 am to 3 pm, $150.00/wk
Although scholarships are limited, Little Artshram has many volunteer and apprentice positions available this summer, as well as additional opportunities for internships and teacher training. Please inquire.
We accept cash and checks, made payable to Little Artshram.
