About Us
Little Artshram is a collection of artists, musicians, environmentalists, and community gardeners committed to learning, celebrating and co-creating with children, youth and their families in the Grand Traverse community. Our mission is to inspire both a deeper learning and daily practice of the Permaculture ethics that guide us: Caring for people, caring for the earth and giving something back.
Our community projects and classroom curriculum's are based on the simple knowledge that we are nature working--not separated---but a working, conscious, curious, creative part of the whole fantastic, complicated web of life on earth.
We observe and take inspiration from nature, learn about growing our own food and living sustainably, gather recyclables to create fantastic art, write stories and songs, build parades and invite the public to our seasonal community celebrations. We work hard, support each other, envision abundance and a healthy, free, just world.
Little Artshram offers many opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in unleashing their creative voice, through art adventures, performances, Summer Art -Farm Camps, our North Woods Family Concert and Storytelling series, Permaculture workshops and classes. Little Artshram has grown The Grand Traverse Earth Day Parade and Ceremony into an annual spring event, which involves many organizations and businesses, local schools, hundreds of children and their families.
We are working to create our Art-Farm homeplace near the Traverse City Community Gardens, forming both friendships and partnerships with other like minded community members and organizations to educate and empower families to learn the sustainable practice of growing their own food and the benefits of a creative, local economy.
We are happy to be here, and glad that you've visited us to learn out more about our work and our play. Read on and enjoy!
