We are pleased with the turnout, response and participation by the children and families who have attended the Little Artshram 2011 Summer Camps thus far. However, we are sorry to inform you that we will not be able to hold the final three weeks of our Summer Camp program.
In discussion with the Recreational Authority, who we lease our Little Artshram homeplace from, it’s been determined that we may need a license for operation of our Summer Camp through the State of Michigan.
This is the first time we have considered or been informed that a “license” might be necessary to hold our summer programs, which we have held since 1993, in Lansing, Michigan and beginning in 2001 in the Grand Traverse area. Our wish and responsibility for the children and their families, as well as the Recreational Authority is to be compliant, and secure a license if necessary.
Should we need a license it will take five or six weeks, therefore we’re choosing not to proceed until we receive clarification, which is also the direct request of the Recreational Authority.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and are greatly saddened to end our amazing program early.
We look forward to reconnecting with you soon, and to end this on a positive note, I wish to share a short video of our recent puppet show performed at the Traverse City Film Festival Kids Fest, by the children, youth and staff in our 6th week of the 2011 Summer Camps
Thanks, and hope to see you next summer,
`penny Krebiehl and the Little Artshram Board
